Two businessmen have criticised the planning application process after their proposal to spend £50,000 on refurbishing their business was rejected.

David and John Cole, who own self-storage business The Space Place, in Sanvey Gate, Leicester, hoped to install nine signs over the windows at the storage business.

Their application was refused however, on the grounds that the building would look “visually intrusive” and the signs would have a “significant detrimental impact on the appearance and character” of the building.
